Sister Alice M. Gleason, IHM
JULY 12, 1936 ~ JUNE 1, 2019 (AGE 82)
Formally Sr. Regina Alice, IHM on June 1, 2019. In addition to her IHM Community, she is survived by many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Predeceased by her parents Maurice and Alice Crimmins Fogarty and her siblings Richard (Louise), Maurice (Kathryn), and Alice Ann Noble (Howard).
Born in Bridgeport, on July 12, 1936. Sister entered the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary on September 8, 1954 from St. Augustine Parish in Bridgeport, PA.
She professed first vows on March 10, 1957. Sister taught math to children in grades 8 through 12 for most of her teaching ministry. She taught in Philadelphia, Harrisburg, Shamokin, Easton, and Feasterville. Sister’s last assignment before going into Camilla Hall was at Archbishop Carroll High School in Radnor in October 2000. As a resident in Camilla Hall, Sister was an active member of the Apostolate of Prayer and service to the Sisters there.
The Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at Camilla Hall, Immaculata, PA. Reverend Brendan Horan, S.J. was the Celebrant and Homilist. The concelebrants were Rev. James Flynn, O.S.A. and Rev. William E. Dean.

Sister M. Dorothy Fogarty, IHM

Formally known as Sr. M. Alice Joseph, IHM on May 23, 2019. In addition to her IHM Community, she is survived by her brothers Joseph (Bobbie), William (Lynne), Sean (Patricia) and Kevin, many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews. Predeceased by her parents Joseph and Alice Carr Gorman and her sister Susan.
Born in Philadelphia, she entered the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary on July 16, 1960 from St. Stephen Parish in Philadelphia. Sister professed first vows on January 16, 1963. She taught children in first grade from 1963 through 1968 and then primarily taught seventh and eighth grade students. Sister Kathleen served as a Principal from 1984 through 2012. Her ministry took her to: Reading, PA; Lynchburg, VA; Philadelphia, PA; Havertown, PA; Villas, NJ; Somerville, NJ; Savannah, GA; Harrisburg, PA; and upstate PA. Her last assignment was ministering to the sick and elderly in St. Ephrem Parish 2013 through August 2017 before illness took her to Camilla Hall where she assisted and served as an active member of the postolate of prayer.
The Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, May 29, at Camilla Hall, Immaculata, PA. Reverend George Winine was the Celebrant and Homilist. The concelebrants were Msgr. Thomas Murray, Msgr. Kenneth McAteer, Rev. Edward Burke, Rev. Philip Burger, and Rev. William Dean.

Sister M. Kathleen Gorman, IHM
MAY 8, 1934 ~ APRIL 30, 2019 (AGE 84)
Formally known as Sr. Peter Mary, IHM on April 30, 2019. In addition to her IHM Community, she is survived by her loving cousins and friends. Predeceased by her parents Peter and Mary Vogel Birster.
Born in Mount Carmel, Pennsylvania, Sister entered the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary on September 8, 1951 from St. Joseph Parish in Ashland, Pennsylvania. Sister Mary professed her first vows on March 11, 1954. She served children as an elementary grade teacher from 1954 through 1958 in the Delaware County area of the Philadelphia Archdiocese. From 1958 through 1964, Sister Mary served in Callao, South America where she taught grades 9 through 12. She then began her many years of service as a high school educator with a brief period in 1969 where she served as a member of the Formation Personnel at Villa Maria House of Studies. From 1970 through 2017, she taught high school students; she served as Dean of Studies at Trinity High School in Shiremanstown; served as Principal Our Lady of Lourdes Academy in Miami and Immaculata High School in Somerville. Sister’s most cherished mission of service was to teach, and this she did with dedication and love. Her last teaching mission was at Trinity High School in Shiremanstown in the Diocese of Harrisburg where she was beloved by colleagues, students, parents, and all of those whom she touched simply by her presence.
Sister Mary entered Camilla Hall in September 2017 to take up her final assignment, the Apostolate of Prayer.
Reverend Monsignor Seamus F. Brennan (homilist), along with Reverends Anthony M. Sirianni, John Maria Devaney, OP, Tholitho Nyuwi, Joseph McLaughlin, O.Praem, and William E. Dean celebrated Sister’s Funeral Mass at Camilla Hall on Tuesday May 7, 2019. In addition, Sister Catherine de Notre Dame, a Little Sister of the Poor (Sister Mary Birster’s cousin) who serves in Maryland, was present at the Funeral Mass.

Sister Mary L. Birster, IHM
DECEMBER 17, 1925 ~ APRIL 25, 2019 (AGE 93)
Formally known as Sr. Dorothy Frances Kane. In addition to her IHM Community, she is survived by many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Predeceased by her parents Howard and Elizabeth Fahey Kane, siblings Elmer (Nell), Preston (Madeline), Walter (Charlotte), Edward (Margaret), Howard (Rita), Jessie, Dolores (James) and Eleanor (Joseph).
Born in Philadelphia, Sister entered the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary on September 8, 1949 from Saint Matthew Parish in Philadelphia. Sister pronounced her first vows on April 13, 1952. From that point forward, Sister Geraldine served as an elementary grade school teacher through 1978; from 1978 through 1986, Sister Geraldine served as Principal at St. Agatha-James and St. Clement schools respectively.
In August of 1997, Sister resided at Pacis Hall and served our Sisters in Camilla Hall. In 2007, Sister Geraldine moved to Camilla Hall where she continued to serve our Sisters and be a full time Apostle of Prayer.
Reverend William Dean celebrated Sister’s Funeral Mass at Camilla Hall on Wednesday, May 1, 2019.

Sister Geraldine Marie Kane, IHM
APRIL 22, 1934 ~ APRIL 19, 2019 (AGE 84)
Formally known as Sr. Regina Sweeney. In addition to her IHM Community, she is survived by many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Predeceased by her parents James and Bridget Mitchell Sweeney, brother Alexander (Mary), sisters Catherine Ellis (William), Teresa Cornish (William), Margaret Borio (Edward), Mary and Elizabeth.
Sister entered the IHM Community on September 8, 1953 from St. Gabriel Parish in South Philadelphia. She pronounced her first vows on March 10, 1956. She taught children in elementary school until 1965 and then taught high school students in North and South America through June 1977. Sister Marian then served in leadership as Superior and Principal in the Philadelphia area through 1988. In 1988 she became Assistant to the IHM Congregational Treasurer in the areas of Insurance, Social Security, Medicare and ‘all things’ Medical. Sister served generously, tirelessly, and patiently.
In March 2018 health issues prompted Sister Marian Regina to choose a ministry in Camilla Hall where her service would continue in the Apostolate of Prayer.
Reverend William Dean and Reverend Joseph McLaughlin celebrated her Funeral Mass at Camilla Hall on Thursday, April 25, 2019 at Camilla Hall.

Sister Marian Regina Sweeney, IHM
JUNE 23, 1940 ~ APRIL 18, 2019 (AGE 78)
Formally known as Sr. Mary Geraldine, IHM. She is survived by the members of her congregation of IHM Sisters. Predeceased by her parents George and Geraldine Kelly Whitman and her brother, Robert (Monica).
Born in Philadelphia, PA, on June 23, 1940, Sister entered the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary on July 16, 1958, from Mater Doloroso Parish. Sister professed her vows on January 17, 1961.
Sister served children as an elementary school teacher in the areas of Philadelphia, Morrisville, New Jersey, Falls Church and Virginia Beach until 2002. From that point on, Sister served as a chaplain minister to patients at Norristown State Hospital until August 2013, when Sister Geraldine took up residence at Camilla Hall to continue her ministry of service in the Apostolate of Prayer and Assistance.
Reverend William E. Dean celebrated the Funeral Mass at Camilla Hall, Immaculata, PA on April 23, 2019.

Sister Geraldine Marie Whitman, IHM
OCTOBER 27, 1927 ~ FEBRUARY 5, 2019 (AGE 91)
Formally known as Sr. M. John Aloysius, IHM. In addition to her congregation of IHM Sisters, she is survived by her loving nieces, nephews and grandnieces. Predeceased by her parents John Aloysius and Catherine Fagan Green and sister, Anna T. Powell (Daniel).
Born in Philadelphia, she entered the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary on Sept. 8, 1945 from Immaculate Conception Parish in Philadelphia. She pronounced her first vows in 1948.
From that point forward, Sister Catherine served in many capacities during her religious journey: grade school teacher, high school teacher, principal, superior and office assistant. Sister Catherine served in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. In August 2009, she entered Camilla Hall where her service continued in the Apostolate of Prayer.
The funeral Mass was celebrated Feb. 9 at Camilla Hall by her nephew, Father Daniel F.X. Powell, with Father William Dean concelebrating.

Sister M. Catherine Green, IHM
OCTOBER 11, 1931 ~ FEBRUARY 3, 2019 (AGE 87)
Formally known as Sister Maria Dominica, IHM. In addition to her congregation of IHM Sisters, she is survived by her brothers Andrew (Doris), Victor Damiani, and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Predeceased by her parents Stanley and Pierina Costantini Iavarone, sister Felicia Cacciavillani (Amadeo) and sister-in-law Virginia Damiani.
Born in Philadelphia, she entered the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary on Sept. 8, 1952 from Most Blessed Sacrament Parish in Philadelphia. She pronounced her first vows on March 3, 1955. During the course of the next 40 years, Sister Mary taught in many elementary schools in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and for a brief time in Annandale, Va. From 1991 until August 2007, she served as a tutor/school assistant then moved into pastoral work visiting the sick and elderly in their homes as well as in the hospital. Sister Mary’s final act of service was to the Apostolate of Prayer in Camilla Hall in August 2007.
The funeral Mass was celebrated Feb. 6 by Father William Dean at Camilla Hall.

In addition to her congregation of IHM Sisters, she is survived by her brothers Joseph (Joann), Francis, her sisters Catherine McManus, Roseanne Norris (Walter), Marguerite Teresa Gaffney (Joseph), Eileen Hill, her sister-in-law Doris, many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Predeceased by her parents Hugh and Mary Scullion Canavan, her brothers Hugh (Doris), Thomas, her brothers-in-law James McManus (Catherine), William Hill (Eileen), and her sister-in-law Elizabeth (Francis).
Born in Philadelphia, PA, Sister entered the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary on September 8, 1948 from St. Madeleine Sophie Parish in Philadelphia. Sister pronounced her first vows on April 18, 1949. Sister taught in many elementary and secondary schools in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. Sister also served as a teacher in Florida and in South America. Sister served in the ministry of Catholic education from 1951 through August 2011 before her final assignment to the Apostolate of Prayer in Camilla Hall in August 2011.
Reverend William Dean celebrated the Funeral Mass on Wednesday, January 23 at Camilla Hall. The Concelebrant and Homilist was Rev. Joseph McGeown.

FEBRUARY 6, 1943 ~ JANUARY 15, 2019 (AGE 75)
Formally known as Maria Isabel Carpio More. In addition to her congregation of IHM Sisters, she is survived by her sisters, Rosa Maria, Augusta, Raquel, Ana Maria, her brothers Guillermo, Luis, Miguel Andres and many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Predeceased by her parents Augusto and Carmen Isabel More Carpio.
Born in Lima, Peru, Sister entered the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1964 in our House of Formation in Las Condes, Santiago, Chile. Sister Isabel professed her First Vows on February 11, 1967 in Chile. Sister Isabel served in many different capacities in her native South America. Sister served as grade school teacher; teacher of Religion in High School; Coordinator of Pastoral Activities; Assistant to Religion Department and Pastoral Chairperson.
The Funeral Mass was celebrated at Camilla Hall, Immaculata, PA on Wednesday, January 23, 2019. Rev. William E. Dean was Celebrant and Homilist.
