SUMMARY:
This is an exempt position that is responsible for ongoing education and training of staff members in accordance with policies and procedures, current federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations governing the facility in order to promote the highest standards of quality and best practices in education and training. The Nurse/Staff Educator serves as a primary contact person for all staff education.
RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Supports the Mission, Philosophy and Core Values of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
2. Provides general orientation, mandatory in-services, continuing education, and other training to meet all department and facility needs and regulatory requirements.
3. Determines and assesses facility education needs. Updates and adds content particular to specific departments in the Relias platform.
4. Plans, develops, and implements annual training programs, including scheduling and revisions as necessary.
5. Communicates and collaborates with the Director of Nursing and other management on a regular basis to ensure the educational needs of the staff and the facility are met.
6. Provides continuous hands-on training for Nurses and Nursing Assistants monthly on a variety of topics throughout the year.
7. Provides other training needs for the Infirmary staff and other departments as directed by the Facility Administrator, Human Resource Director, and Director of Nursing.
8. Monitors Relias to ensure compliance with annual completion across all departments. Including maintaining and reporting of Relias reports to all department heads.
10. Schedules, administers, and maintains records of all staff and their infectious disease clearance, in accordance with standards of practice and the current standards of the
local county health department.
11. Assures quality in education by utilization of authoritative resources and best practices.
12. Maintains a professional development file for all staff ensuring the required paperwork
is on file and up to date. Compliance and transcript reports are maintained in the Relias platform for all staff.
13. Assesses, maintains and recommends purchases of all necessary education supplies and materials.
14. Ensures safe and sanitary work environment for employees at all times. Ensures employees follow established safety procedures and guidelines.
15. Ensures that the cloud-based Electronic Health Record (EHR) software, Point Click Care, is in optimal and running order.
16. Develops and implements training materials and training plans for orientation of new employees, in particular, the nursing department, as well as orienting other departments that require access to PCC.
17. Maintains the integrity of the login information, updating passwords when needed, and coordinating the correct role assignment for the particular individual in the setup.
18. Keeps up to date on all new releases within the EHR system. Communicates updated information to all users if changes will occur.
19. Initiates a support ticket for PCC tech support to help resolve technical or functional issues with the PCC software.
20. Performs responsibilities in a professional manner and in accordance with all established procedures and healthcare regulations.
22. Complies with HIPAA Privacy Act by protecting the confidential information of all Resident Sisters.
23. Participates in all training and continuing education to upgrade skills.
24. Follows all Camilla Hall Policies and Procedures.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assists the Administrator with various administrative tasks as needed.
2. Fills in as a Nurse Manager or Medication Nurse as needed and requested by the Administrator or Director of Nursing.
4. Assists in the coordination of the administration and documentation of vaccines for Resident Sisters and Staff, including Influenza vaccines, Covid vaccines and PPDs, etc.
5. Performs tasks which support the essential functions of the job. These tasks may be altered or redesigned depending upon individual circumstances.
6. Creates a cooperative team effort among the staff. Acts as a team player at all times.
7. Provides leadership and direction to staff whenever appropriate.
8. Other duties as assigned by the Administrator.
JOB SKILLS/POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
1. Must possess the ability to deal tactfully and effectively communicate with Sisters, staff, family members, friends and the general public.
2. Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to plan, organize, develop, implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures.
3. Must possess the ability to evaluate and show good judgment when dealing with staff members.
4. Must be able to plan and execute plans as needed and provide direction to staff members.
5. Consistently demonstrates integrity, positive attitude and respect for others.
6. Must have strong working knowledge of electronic charting systems, training software and all Microsoft office programs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Maintains licensure and completes requisite education requirements as required by professional licensing board.
2. A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, Adult Education, or a comparable field.
