Registered Nurse (RN)

SUMMARY:

This non-exempt position is responsible for the direct and individualized nursing care and executes therapeutic and technical functions. The Registered Nurse promotes the physical, mental, social and spiritual well-being of the Resident Sisters. The Registered Nurse communicates effectively the recommended Standards of Care.

RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Supports the Mission, Philosophy and Core Values of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

2. Assists the Director of Nursing/Assistant Director of Nursing/Nurse Manager with the implementation of the mission and philosophy of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculata Heart of Mary.

3. Contributes to the assessment of Resident Sisters’ needs and develops and individualized Plan of Care.

4. Obtains and documents a nursing history on newly admitted Resident Sisters. Performs a nursing assessment.

5. Prepares and administers medication in accordance with professional standards and policies. Documents the administration of medications in Point Click Care. Observes and reports any adverse reactions to medications.

6. Provides the highest level of care appropriate to meet the Resident Sisters’ needs – physical, mental, social and spiritual.

7. Assists Resident Sisters with Activities of Daily Living, including but not limited to bathing, dressing, feeding, ambulating and toileting.

8. Provides direct Nursing Care as needed and performs all procedures with accuracy.

9. Performs treatments in accordance with standards and policies and documents procedure/observations in Point Click Care.

10. Observes, reports, and documents all significant symptoms, reactions and changes in the Resident Sister’s condition.

11. Provides post-mortem care including pronouncement of death, completion of the death certificate, and final documentation.

12. Assigns and delegates duties to non-licensed Nursing Staff in the absence of the Nurse Manager.

13. Monitors resident care and supervises other Nursing Staff in the absence of the Nurse Manager.

14. Assists in the orientation and training of new Nursing Staff and instructs them in established procedures to ensure continuity of care.

15. Ensures a safe, clean, and orderly environment and consistently uses procedures which employ safe techniques.

16. Performs responsibilities in a professional manner and in accordance with all established procedures and healthcare regulations.

17. Complies with HIPAA Privacy Act by protecting the confidential information of all Resident Sisters.

18. Participates in all training and continuing education to upgrade skills. Maintains licensure to meet accreditation standards.

19. Follows all Camilla Hall Policies and Procedures.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Assists the Director of Nursing/Assistant Director of Nursing/Nurse Managers with various administrative tasks as needed.

2. Performs tasks which support the essential functions of the job. These tasks may be altered or redesigned depending upon individual circumstances.

3. Acts as a team member by developing a cooperative team effort and covering for peers as needed.

4. Assumes responsibility as a Nurse Manager as needed.

5. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing/Assistant Director of Nursing/ Nurse Manager.

3. Ability to communicate effectively with Sisters and other staff members.

4. Ability to deal tactfully with Resident Sisters, staff members, family members, friends and the general public.

5. Consistently demonstrates integrity, positive attitude and respect for others.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. A graduate of an accredited School of Nursing; current unrestricted Pennsylvania License to practice as a Registered Nurse.

2. A minimum of one year’s experience in a related position is preferred.

3. Maintains licensure and completes requisite education requirements as required by the State Board of Nursing.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

1. Physical activity such as walking, standing, sitting, pulling, lifting, carrying, pushing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and twisting.

2. Regularly required to talk and hear, use hand to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms.

3. Specific visual abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

4. Extended periods of work time scheduled according to operational needs.
